MID-HUDSON – At a time when asylum seeking migrants from New York City have been transported to hotels in Orange and Rockland counties, word is others will be bused to other counties in the region today.

Sources said two hotels in Sullivan County and others in Dutchess will receive new guests from New York City as Mayor Eric Adams continues to relocate migrants to over communities as he maintains his city cannot handle the volume being sent there from Texas.

There are over a dozen hotels clustered on both sides of Route 9 in Fishkill; however, it is not immediately known where the people will be sent.

Congressman Marcus Molinaro (R, NY-19), said, “I firmly oppose this decision. Sullivan is not a sanctuary city. Its residents are experiencing record levels of poverty, food insecurity, and a housing crisis. This community does not have the capacity to handle a migrant crisis. I’m urging Mayor Adams to reconsider this plan and once again calling on President Biden to declare a state of emergency so this crisis will be addressed in New York City, instead of the Catskills.”

Molinaro is a former Dutchess County executive who has held local government positions for over 20 years.
