GOSHEN – A 60-year-old Warwick man has been sentenced to a total of 14 years in state prison for crimes committed in Orange and Delaware counties.
In Orange County Court on Wednesday, John Olson was sentenced to six years in prison followed by 10 years of post-release supervision after previously pleading guilty to attempted rape and sexual abuse.
The sentence was ordered to run consecutively to a previously imposed sentence in Delaware County Court for related incidents there.
The combined sentences total 14 years.
When he pled guilty in Orange County Court, Olson admitted that he attempted to engage in sexual intercourse with a person under the age of 11 and subjected a person under 11 to sexual contact.
“This lengthy prison sentence imposed on this defendant is justified based on his admitted abhorrent conduct,” said Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler. “I commend the brave actions of the victims who came forward and made sure the defendant was held accountable.”
