What appears to be a funnel cloud over Livingston Manor

ALBANY – State Assemblywoman Aileen Gunther (D, Forestburgh) Monday asked Governor Hochul to come to Sullivan County and see for herself the devastation from the Saturday evening tornado.

Gunther toured the ravaged areas on Sunday and called the damage “completely unbelievable.”The assemblywoman is asking the state for aid to assist those whose homes were damaged or destroyed and she has gone right to the governor’s office.

“We’re asking her to come to look at the areas that have been damaged so that we can get the help that we need for all of these farmers, senior citizens, etc.,” Gunther said.

She said one farmer she talked to was in tears over the amount of damage to his barns.

Sheriff Mike Schiff assessed the damage with Gunther on Sunday.
