POUGHKEEPSIE – Thirty-three-year-old Camay Pryce of Poughkeepsie has been indicted and arraigned on charges of vehicular manslaughter and driving while ability impaired by drugs relating to a September 7, 2022 accident in Pleasant Valley that claimed the life of the well-known and beloved Navy veteran Erin “Doc” Clancy.

A Dutchess County Grand Jury indicted Pryce on April 6, 2023, and a warrant for her arrest was issued on April 14, 2023.  Five days later, with the assistance of the City of Poughkeepsie police, Pryce was located at an undisclosed Poughkeepsie residence and taken into custody by the New York State Police who had been investigating the fatal collision.

After being processed by the police, Pryce was arraigned before Dutchess County Court Judge Edward McLoughlin, who remanded her to the Dutchess County Jail on $500,000 cash bail, $1 million bond, or $2 million partially-secured bond.  If Pryce is able to make bail, she will be required to be placed on electronic monitoring and will have to surrender her passport.

According to investigators, Pryce was traveling eastbound on Route 44 in the westbound lane while attempting to pass two vehicles.  Pryce had passed the first vehicle and stayed in the westbound lane when she struck Doc Clancy’s vehicle head-on.  Clancy, in his Town & Country minivan, was pronounced dead at the scene.  Pryce, who had been driving a Nissan Murano, sustained serious injuries in the wreck she is said to have caused.

Dutchess County Senior Assistant District Attorney Jennifer Fluck told Mid-Hudson News that the maximum allowable sentence by law on the felony vehicular manslaughter charge is 2 1/3 – 7 years in state prison.

The accident occurred at 5:50 a.m. and Route 44 was closed in both directions for several hours as first responders and investigators worked at the scene.
