TOWN OF NEWBURGH – A truck fire on Interstate 84 in the Town of Newburgh Thursday afternoon resulted in the westbound highway being shut down Thursday afternoon.
Traffic was at a standstill and backed up over the Newburgh-Beacon Bridge.
Motorists sat for hours while firefighting operations were underway.
Flames shot through the roof of the trailer that was pulled onto the side of the highway.
What the cargo was, and the cause of the fire were not immediately known.
There were no reported injuries.
