ALBANY – An air quality health advisory for ozone has been issued for today (Friday) by the state departments of health and environmental conservation.

The agencies predict levels of pollution, either ozone or fine particulate matter, smog, are expected to exceed an air quality index value of 100.

The health advisory applies to the counties of Rockland, Westchester, Sullivan, Ulster, Dutchess, Orange, and Putnam from 11 a.m. through 11 p.m.

State officials said people, especially young children, those who exercise outdoors, those involved in vigorous outdoor work, and those who have a respiratory disease such as asthma, should consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity when ozone levels are the highest, generally in the afternoon to early evening.
