State DMV Commissioner Mark Schroeder, in Goshen, to unveil new mobile DMV office

GOSHEN – The new $197,000 Orange County mobile motor vehicle office starts its daily visits around the county on Monday with the first stop in the City of Port Jervis.

The vehicle, funding by the American Rescue Plan Act, will operate Mondays through Fridays.

State DMV Commissioner Mark Schroeder was in Goshen on Thursday to cut the ribbon.

“What I see here by looking at this beautiful vehicle is access for all, access for everyone,” he said.

Orange County has DMV offices in Goshen, Middletown and Newburgh and this mobile unit will travel to underserved areas where people may not have the ability to drive to one of the offices.

Schroeder noted the mobile office will focus on seniors, veterans and the disabled community.

The traveling office was the brainchild of County Clerk Kelly Askew who said it will be a phenomenal new service for residents.

Ulster County has had a mobile DMV office for years that travels around the county. Ulster has only one DMV office, that being in Kingston.
