CATSKILL – Fire in a residence at 193 Main Street in the Village of Catskill Wednesday morning claimed the life of a 74-year-old man.
The fire was reported at around 6:30 a.m. and when police and fire personnel arrived, it was fully engulfed in flames.
The fire department extinguished the blaze, but one man was unaccounted for. He was eventually found dead inside the house.
Police identified the victim as Harry Braker, a resident in the home.
The cause of the fire appears to be accidental, police said.
State Police are being assisted in their investigation by the Greene County Fire Investigation Team.
