WHITE PLAINS – Westchester County Executive George Latimer and Orange County Executive Steven Neuhaus joined forces on Monday to talk about common issues.

Chief among them is the growing tourism industry in the Hudson Valley and Neuhaus pointed to the latest entry into Orange County’s visitor attraction – Legoland.  According to Neuhaus, Legoland helps bring in more than $1 million in the hotel tax, known as a “pillow tax” annually.

“We have about a million dollars alone comes in hotel-motel tax, so they have really brought a lot of attention,” Neuhaus said. “We’re seeing spinoff tourism attractions; not only hotels coming, buy other types of theme parks. We are seeing adventure theme parks. We are even kicking the tires about bringing in a dinosaur theme park.”

Latimer said all of the counties in the region are partners in some of the same issues including the Hudson River, the Thruway and other highways, and other tourism.
