NEW CITY – Clarkstown Police are investigating the discovery of a heavily decomposed body in the basement of a New City residence.
Police were called to 45 Ruth Drive on Sunday, March 19 for a welfare check on a resident.
Family members told police they had discovered a strong odor coming from a room in the basement of the home. Investigating officers located the human remains there.
Detectives have begun an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death. The Rockland County Medical Examiner responded and removed the body.
