Saugerties man arrested for more felonies

SAUGERTIES – Forty-year-old James O’Donnell of Saugerties is facing several felony charges after being arrested by the Saugerties Police again.  On March 1, 2023, O’Donnell was charged with the felonies of criminal possession of stolen property and burglary.  He also faces three felony counts of forgery of a vehicle identification number and misdemeanor criminal possession of stolen property.

According to Saugerties Police Chief Joseph Sinagra, O’Donnell was arrested incidental to an ongoing investigation of multiple residential burglaries that occurred in late 2022, in the Town and Village of Saugerties.

O’Donnell was processed and then arraigned in the Town of Saugerties Justice Court.  He was released from custody after posting a $5,000 cash bail.  where O’Donnell was released by the court, upon posting $5,000 cash bail. Saugerties Police were assisted in their investigation by members of the New York State Department of Motor Vehicle Special Investigations Unit.

The Saugerties Police Department investigation is ongoing and additional arrests are pending.

O’Donnell is known to the Saugerties police.  In 2022, Saugerties police detectives executed a search warrant at O’Donnell’s residence and arrested him after recovering three stolen snowmobiles in his possession.  The January 12, 2022 arrest included three felony charges of burglary and one felony charge of criminal possession of stolen property.  He was also charged with the misdemeanors of petit larceny and criminal mischief.  He was arraigned and released on his own recognizance for those charges.
