POUGHKEEPSIE – Town of Poughkeepsie resident Rasheem Thomison, age 50, was arrested early Saturday morning by City of Poughkeepsie police that had responded to a report of a disturbance at a Main Street tavern.  Thomison has served three different prison sentences, including one for murder.  He is currently on parole.

At approximately 2:00 a.m. Saturday, February 25, 2023, City of Poughkeepsie police officers responded to a call from an employee of a lower Main Street bar reporting a disturbance.  When police arrived at the location they were informed that the subject, later identified as Rasheem Thomison, that caused the disturbance had left the premises.

Witnesses provided the police with a description of Thomison and patrol units located him a short time later in his vehicle in the vicinity of lower Main Street.  After detaining Thomison, police recovered a firearm from the vehicle as well as an undisclosed quantity of narcotics.  He was taken into custody without incident.

Thomison was arrested and charged with the felonies of criminal possession of a firearm, two counts of criminal possession of a weapon, and two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell.  Thomison’s three prior felony convictions of murder, criminal possession of a weapon, and robbery prohibit him from being released on bail.  City police indicated that he was going to be remanded to the Dutchess County Jail with no bail after arraignment.
