TOWN OF WALLKILL – The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall in the Town of Wallkill Veterans Memorial Park has been vandalized and the Town of Wallkill Police are actively investigating the crime.  The damage was discovered early Monday morning on the black panels that pay tribute to the men and women who served during the Vietnam war.

“This park was created to honor our men and women who fought in the Vietnam War and unfortunately were not welcomed home as heroes,” said an angered Wallkill Town Supervisor George Serrano.  The supervisor expressed his anger and disappointment to Mid-Hudson News on Monday, saying “This park was created by the town to honor their service and it’s disappointing to see a cowardly act of vandalism and disrespect toward our veterans.  I am committed to working with our town police department to find the individuals responsible for this act and hold them accountable.”

Town of Wallkill Police are investigating the incident.  Anyone with information regarding the vandalism is asked to call the Town of Wallkill Police Department at 845-692-6757.
