Saugerties man charged with discon after walking around with pellet gun that looked like real handgun

Actual pellet gun seized by police

SAUGERTIES – Police in Saugerties have charged a 31-year-old Saugerties man with disorderly conduct after he was observed by a witness getting out of a car at a restaurant while holding a gun.

The witness told police the man, later identified as Thomas Tommola, walked across the street while holding the gun before putting it under his clothing.

It turns out the weapon was a pellet gun.

Police detained Tommola and charged him, issuing an appearance ticket returnable to town court.

The initial 911 call prompted a response from the State Police and Ulster County Sheriff’s Office, who assisted Saugerties Police in the investigation.
