OTISVILLE – Otisville Elementary and Intermediate School students have remembered and honored local veterans by participating in the valentine collection efforts of area elected officials. Hundreds of cards were made by students in both schools.

Students from Otisville Elementary School participated in State Senator James Skoufis’s annual “Project Valentine” initiative. The school joined others in the Orange County area who are remembering local veterans and nursing home residents for Valentine’s Day by making cards.

Senator Skoufis invited people of all ages to get creative and make or donate valentine cards, personalized with messages and decorations. He will deliver the cards to local long-term adult care facilities and veteran posts.

Students from Otisville Intermediate School participated in U.S. Representative Pat Ryan’s inaugural “Valentines for Vets” initiative. The school joined others in the region who remembered local veterans with handmade cards.

“These heroes have earned our recognition, and I look forward to our office showing them just how much the Hudson Valley community recognizes their sacrifice,” said Congressman Ryan, adding the cards will be delivered to a variety of veterans groups and organizations.
