SLATE HILL – The Minisink Valley varsity cheerleading team has earned a bid to compete in the Universal Cheerleaders Association’s (UCA) National High School Cheerleading Championship (NHSCC) in Orlando, FL from February 10 to 12.

Teams earn a bid for the NHSCC through attending a UCA regional event and achieving a qualifying score.

The Warriors qualified in the Small Varsity D2 division, and will compete at the ESPN Worldwide of Sports Center at the Walt Disney World Resort against the best cheer teams in their division from across the nation.

“The girls worked very hard to raise funds to have the opportunity to attend this prestigious event and are extremely grateful to all of the more than 40 community businesses, families and friends for their support,” said Coach Patti Archiere.

For more than 40 years, the UCA NHSCC has been the culmination of the season for cheerleaders nationwide. It’s the most prestigious high school national championship in the country and the only high school cheerleading championship endorsed by the National Federation of State High School Association, which writes the rules of competition for most U.S. high school sports and activities.
