Missing plane located; two occupants dead

WESTCHESTER COUNTY – First responders in Westchester County have found a missing single-engine plane that disappeared late Thursday afternoon. The two people onboard were reported to have been killed.

FAA air traffic controllers lost radio contact with the aircraft near the county airport around 5 p.m.

The aircraft was traveling to Cuyahoga County Airport in Ohio from New York when it went missing and was not visible on radar.

Several police and fire departments were dispatched to the scene to search for the missing aircraft that vanished from radar approximately two miles from the airport in Westchester.

The Beechcraft A36 had departed from JFK airport in New York City and was traveling to Ohio.  The FAA said that the airplane reported having engine issues as it neared the Westchester County Airport.

According to the manufacturer, the Beechcraft Bonanza has a capacity of six passengers.
