Suspected arsonist responsible for destroying the “Halloween House”.

POUGHKEEPSIE – Police have no major developments regarding a deliberate fire that destroyed an iconic Poughkeepsie home on January 14, 2021.  The “Halloween House” located at the intersection of Mill and South Clinton Streets was set ablaze in the early morning hours and the suspect was captured on video surveillance splashing an accelerant on the front porch of the victorian house.

The house and detached garage, owned by adult entertainment star Matthew Camp, were completely destroyed in the blaze.  Neighboring houses on South Clinton Street also sustained exposure damage.

The stately home, built in the 1800s had quirky decorating throughout and was previously owned by a member of the Church of Satan.

The City of Poughkeepsie police detective assigned to the case said that several tips were received shortly after the incident and all were investigated.  “We are still seeking assistance in determining who is responsible for starting the fire and are asking for anyone with information to contact our confidential TIP LINE at 845-451-7577,” the detective said.

The house and garage have been leveled for safety reasons and signs offering a reward now stand on the parcel.  The signs are asking for anyone with information regarding the identity of the arsonist to call 322-232-1373.  The person who provides information that leads to an arrest will be eligible for a reward of $6,666.
