Oneonta man sentenced to prison for conspiring to sex traffic teen in Newburgh and Fishkill

WHITE PLAINS – An Oneonta man was sentenced in White Plains federal court on Friday to five years in prison for conspiring to commit sex trafficking of a 16-year-old girl who had run away from her Newburgh area home.

Toby Murchison, 43, was also sentenced to five years of post-release supervision for allegedly conspiring to have her engage in commercial sex in hotel rooms in Newburgh and Fishkill.

Murchison previously pled guilty to conspiracy to commit sex trafficking.

Along with a co-conspirator, Murchison met with the child and set up “dates” for her to meet with men for sex in exchange for money.

The investigation was conducted by Homeland Security Investigations New York, the Resident Agent in Charge of the Hudson Valley, and the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office.
