New Orange County Sheriff Paul Arteta, right, is administered oath of office from County Clerk Kelly Eskew

GOSHEN- Orange County’s new sheriff, Paul Arteta, was sworn in on Sunday as County Clerk Kelly Eskew administered the oath of office at the county’s emergency services center.

Arteta said he wants his agency to become a more community-minded office.

“Working with the community, making a strong bond with some of the law enforcement agencies and businesses and with the public in general to see what their needs are so that we can work as a community minded sheriff’s office,” he said.

Arteta was most recently deputy police chief in the Montgomery Village Police Department and prior to that, he was a captain in the sheriff’s office.
