TOWN OF POUGHKEEPSIE – The Arlington Fire District has received a grant for new equipment to aid its specialized firefighters when they respond to calls for service.  The $13,500 grant from the Leary Firefighter Foundation will provide FAST Rope and Rescue air packs.

The specialized firefighters that make up the Firefighter Assist Search Team, known as a FAST Team, are firefighters who stand ready at structure fires and other incidents to immediately rescue a firefighter who becomes injured, trapped, or disoriented during a fire.

Founded by actor Dennis Leary in 2000, the Leary Foundation has awarded over $2.7 million since 2014 to fire departments across the nation for improved equipment and training.
