CITY OF HUDSON – Police are trying to sort out what precipitated a large group of disorderly people spilling out into the street just before 9 p.m. on Tuesday at the Hudson Terrace Apartments in the City of Hudson.

No arrests were immediately made.

City Police Chief L. Edward Moore said when officers arrived at the scene, they reported several young people and adults in the area yelling, with a man wielding a machete.

State Police responded to assist with crowd control and a Columbia County Sheriff’s deputy also responded, but while en route, the patrol car was involved in a single-car accident on South 3rd Street. The deputy was treated and released from Albany Medical Center.

Hudson detectives interviewed several people who gave their accounts as to what had transpired.

Two adults and one under-age person, all Hudson residents, sustained physical injuries.

“What occurred was a rather large group of disorderly people,” Chief Moore said. “It appears to be a home invasion that spilled out into the street. By some accounts there were more than 20, mostly juveniles, involved.”

He said there is a lot to sort through and he thanked the other police agencies that responded.

If anyone has information about this incident, they are asked to call the detective division at 518-828-3388.
