MID-HUDSON – The cost of a traditional Thanksgiving dinner is expected to be 13.5 percent more than last year and the price of turkey alone is going up 73 percent.
Rising inflation and economic strains make it hard for many to make ends meet, let alone enjoy the holiday, which is why the Salvation Army Greater New York Division is continuing its tradition of providing Thanksgiving meals to those in need.
Among those locations in the regional where holiday meals will be distributed and/or served in time for Thanksgiving are:
- White Plains on Monday, November 21
- Port Jervis on Tuesday, November 22 at 1 p.m.
- Yonkers on Tuesday, November 22 at 1 p.m.
- New Rochelle on Tuesday, November 22
- Newburgh on Wednesday, November 23 at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.
- Poughkeepsie on Wednesday, November 23 at 9 a.m.
Holiday meals were previous distributed or served at Salvation Army facilities in Beacon, Spring Valley and Kingston.
