KINGSTON – Mayor Steven Noble unveiled his 2023 Kingston City budget on Monday declaring the city has “very strong financial health.”

The mayor’s proposed spending plan general fund comes just under $50.1 million, up from $46.7 million in 2022.

The residential and commercial property tax rates will decrease in Noble’s budget.

The mayor’s budget includes a first-ever crime analyst on top of seven new full-timers this year, funds for infrastructure, housing and sustainable energy sources.

Noble was also thrilled that the city received its first ambulance as a multi-purpose vehicle.

–This new initiative is the first outside of New York City to be able to be a co-response team that is going to pair a crisis counselor with an EMT to be able to respond to calls from residents eight hours a day, five days a week,” he said during his budget message at city hall.

The common council will now go over the spending plan with a fine tooth comb before voting on it near the end of the year.
