Woman charged with setting house on fire

AIRMONT – A 51-year-old Airmont woman has been arrested and charged with arson and criminal mischief following an investigation into a fire that heavily damaged a single-family home at 6 Dunn Road in Airmont. (Video of the fire can be viewed here.)

The name of the accused woman was not made public by Ramapo Town Police.

She was arrested following an investigation by Ramapo Police detectives and the Rockland County Sheriff’s Arson Investigation Unit and following arraignment, was released without bail pending a future court appearance.

No one was injured during the fire.

The fire was fought and extinguished by the Tallman Fire Department with mutual aid from the Hillcrest, Monsey, Sloatsburg, Spring Valley and Mahwah fire departments.
