GOSHEN – On the heels of an initiative to collect and divert food waste begun prior to the pandemic, Orange County is launching a phase of the program.

County recycling director Ermin Silijkovic said the county is concentrating on one area.

“We are now focusing on the Warwick Valley farmers market and really focusing on the food scraps collection there and working with a local farmer to compost the food scraps in order to make good soil and in tandem with that, we are also working on a countywide composting bin and rain barrel sale,” he said.

County residents can purchase composters and rain barrel at a reduced rate by logging onto https://www.enviroworld.us/OrangeCountyny.
