Police seek help in locating missing homeless man

Louis “Pecan” Stratford missing since June 29, 2022.

POUGHKEEPSIE – City of Poughkeepsie Police are seeking the public’s assistance in locating a missing homeless man.  Fifty-nine-year-old Louis “Pecan” Stratford was last seen in Poughkeepsie on June 29, 2022.

Stratford was reported missing to police by his family after they spent days searching for him.

Stratford has a history of minor mental illness, according to family members and rarely takes his prescription medications.  He also has untreated prostate cancer., family members said.

The family is very concerned about his well-being, noting that he has a history of alcoholism and has been in rehabilitation centers for treatment in the past.  “This is the longest we have ever gone without hearing from him,” a relative told Mid-Hudson News.

Historically, according to the relative, they would locate him walking up and down Main Street in Poughkeepsie where they would stop and talk to him and check on his well-being.

Stratford is described as being black, approximately 5’6″ tall, and weighs 155 pounds.  He is known to answer to his nickname of “Pecan.”
