POUGHKEEPSIE – City Police in Poughkeepsie are investigating the shooting death of a man that occurred early Tuesday morning near Mansion and Smith Streets.  The victim was driving a Mercedes when he was shot.

Police responded to a report of a shooting at 1:44 a.m. near Mansion and Smith Streets.  The victim apparently attempted to flee the scene after being shot, making it one block, to the intersection of Mansion Street and Bement Avenue.

The man was found near his vehicle at the intersection and transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Sources say that the victim’s dark-colored Mercedes was actually white but was wrapped in a darker color.  Vinyl vehicle wrapping is a technique of applying a thin layer of vinyl to all or parts of a vehicle to change the color or finish of the car.

The vehicle, in the original white color under the vinyl wrap is believed to have been involved in a homicide in front of a Poughkeepsie establishment on Easter morning of 2022.  That incident claimed the life of a 29-year-old man.
