Peekskill pedestrian struck and killed on Crompond Road

CORTLANDT – State police are investigating an accident that occurred on Tuesday in Cortlandt that claimed the life of a pedestrian.  The victim, a 34-year-old Peekskill resident was killed after being struck by a car on Crompond Road near the intersection with Lafayette Avenue on July 5.
Edwin Merchan Tenemea died at Hudson Valley Hospital from his wounds.
At 11:15 p.m., on Tuesday, Troopers were dispatched to the Crompond Road intersection for a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle. Peekskill Emergency Medical Services were already on scene rendering aid to the pedestrian who was transported to Hudson Valley Hospital.
The initial investigation police determined that a 2004 Honda Accord was traveling westbound on Crompond Road and struck Edwin Merchan Tenemea who was walking in the westbound lane.
The driver’s name was not released and the investigation is ongoing.
