Veterans appreciation movie day draws hundreds

HYDE PARK – More than 400 veterans and their guests attended a free screening of the new “Top Gun:  Maverick” movie on Sunday as a symbolic gesture of thanks from Dutchess County.

Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro and the Dutchess County Division of Veterans Services sponsored a “Veterans Appreciation Movie Day” on Sunday, at the Roosevelt Cinemas, in Hyde Park. Veterans and active-duty military individuals, along with one guest, were able to pre-register for the free movie.

Molinaro said, “We are grateful to our veterans for all they have done to serve their country and this Veterans Appreciation Movie Day is another small way for us to show that gratitude. We are proud to offer veterans and their guests a morning of relaxing, movie fun.”

Veterans Services Director Adam Roche said, “We are grateful to Roosevelt Cinemas for their support of our Veterans Appreciation Movie Day. Our veterans have given so much to their community and nation, and it is our honor to offer this free event for them to enjoy with a loved one or friend.”  Roche also encouraged veterans in need of services can find information on the department’s website.
