Unemployment rates decline in Hudson Valley communities

ALBANY – The unemployment rate in the Hudson Valley in April stood at 2.9 percent and more and more municipalities are falling under that rate.

The Village of Port Chester had the lowest rate at 2.0 percent, followed by the Town of Mamaroneck with 2.1 percent and the Town of Ramapo at 2.2 percent.

Eastchester had 2.3 percent, Greenburgh and Spring Valley each had 2.4 percent, and Wappinger, East Fishkill and Clarkstown each had 2.6 percent rates of unemployment.

The highest rate was in the City of Newburgh at 5.0 percent followed by the City of Mount Vernon at 4.7 percent and the City of Poughkeepsie at 4.1 percent.

The Town of Monroe had 3.8 percent joblessness while the City of Middletown had 3.6 percent.
