NEWBURGH – In a special school board meeting on Thursday, May 26, the Board of Education named Dr. Jackielyn Manning Campbell as superintendent of the Newburgh Enlarged City School District.

She replaces acting Superintendent Ed Forgit and was hired following a national search for a new leader following the $1 million paid leave of absence of former Superintendent Roberto Padilla.

During her 24-year-career in education, mainly in Mount Vernon, New York City, White Plains and New Rochelle, her roles have included teacher, assistant principal, principal, top administrative posts and a member of the superintendent’s cabinet.

Since December 2020, she served as the assistant superintendent for Student Support Services as well as acting superintendent in the New Rochelle School City School District.

“It is a new day for the Newburgh Enlarged City School District,” said Board President Carol Mineo.

Campbell will start her new job on July 1.
