TOWN OF WAPPINGER – Construction has begun on a new roundabout near the Hudson Valley Regional Airport in Wappinger.  The current intersection design of Route 376, New Hackensack Road, and All Angels Hill Road has been the source of daily traffic delays for several years and New York State DOT is seeking to reduce the delays with a new roundabout.

When the project was announced in December of last year, DOT Commissioner Marie Therese Dominguez said, “Merging these three roadways into a modern roundabout will improve traffic flow and create better access to the county’s many agricultural and shopping destinations.”

The $5.8 million project to reconstruct the intersection of State Route 376, New Hackensack Road, and All Angels Hill Road with a roundabout will feature streetscaping, landscaping, pedestrian crosswalks, and a pocket park and is expected to smooth traffic flow and enhance safety at this busy location for residents and commuters near the Hudson Valley Regional Airport, while utilizing environmentally-friendly engineering practices, according to a DOT statement.

The project, paid for with federal and state funding, is expected to be completed in the summer of 2023.
