MONTICELLO – The Village of Monticello has a new village manager, but he is no stranger to the municipality.

By a four to one vote, the board of trustees appointed James Snowden to the post. He served five years ago as the village building and codes inspector until he was terminated over allegations dealing with the demolition of the former village courthouse.

Mayor George Nikolados said he expects the new manager to tackle a number of pressing issues.

“Not having a full-time manager for quite a few years now, there is a lot of stuff in terms of office management and I think we are going to continue the good work we have been doing the last few years and I hope it just continues moving forward smoothly,” he said.

The mayor said he was not included in the interviewing process that led to Snowden’s hiring.
