Murder suspect apprehended in North Carolina

WHITE PLAINS – Yonkers resident Jerome Wilson has been indicted for the 2020 shooting death of Chazz Mitchell.

Wilson, 28, was indicted by a Westchester County grand jury for murder, manslaughter, and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon, all as felonies.

He is being held in the county jail without bail.

The indictment charges Wilson with fatally shooting Mitchell, 25, of Yonkers, on Oak Street in Yonkers on August 25, 2020 just before 4 p.m.

Wilson was arrested on April 4 of this year in Charlotte, North Carolina, following a joint law enforcement operation involving Yonkers Police, the FBI’s Westchester Safe Streets Task Force, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Violent Criminal Apprehension Team and the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office.
