Sheriff’s candidates in Ulster, Orange, file election petitions

MID-HUDSON – One of the two announced Republican candidates for Orange County sheriff has submitted his petitions to get on the ballot.

Paul Arteta is seeking both the Republican and Conservative lines. He will face current Undersheriff Ken Jones, who filed his petitions on Tuesday, in a GOP primary this summer.

Running on the Democrat line will be Bernie Rivers.

Meanwhile, in Ulster County, incumbent Sheriff Juan Figueroa, a Democrat, is seeking a second term. He filed his petitions to run on both the Democrat and Working Families Party lines.
