GOSHEN – A City of Newburgh man was sentenced in Orange County Court on Wednesday to nine years in state prison and five years of post-release supervision in connection with the stabbing of a woman on Travis Lane in the Town of Newburgh on June 21, 2021.

Miles Peterson, 26, pled guilty last December to felony assault for stabbing the woman several times.

District Attorney David Hoovler said he hopes the sentence will deter those who attempt to engage in violence in Orange County. “The community will be safer during the nine years this defendant is in state prison,” the DA said.
