FISHKILL – Town Supervisor Ozzy Albra has a new taxpayer-funded electric sports car but cannot account for the mileage on the vehicle.  The car sat still for nearly a year after buying it, due to a lack of a charging station.

Mid-Hudson News recently reported about the purchase of the electric Ford Mustang that occurred in 2021 and the recent purchase of a charging station for the vehicle.  The vehicle, according to town officials, had only accumulated approximately 200 miles in the first year of ownership because of an inadequate charging system.

A day after the Mid-Hudson News story about the $56,500 purchase of the Mustang and charging station, there were several sightings of the vehicle being driven throughout the town.  A FOIL request seeking copies of the daily mileage log was submitted to the town clerk.  The request sought the dates of which the vehicle was operated, the starting and ending miles for each day the vehicle was used, and the name of the driver.

On Monday, the town’s Records Access Officer responded saying, “The Town of Fishkill Supervisor’s Office has no documents responsive to this FOIL request.”  Supervisor Albra also responded to the FOIL, saying, “There is no daily mileage log for the vehicle.”  Albra defended his lack of record-keeping by saying, “There is also no daily mileage log for any take-home vehicle, including the Highway Superintendent, Police Chief, Building Inspector or Assessor.”
