POUGHKEEPSIE – Jillian Hanlon, a long-time Dutchess County deputy sheriff, now retired, has been endorsed by the county Democratic Committee in her bid for sheriff.

Undersheriff and now acting Sheriff Kirk Imperati, is the presumptive Republican candidate for the top law enforcement post.

Hanlon was chosen in a unanimous vote by the Democratic committee, said Chairwoman Julie Shiroishi.

Hanlon has several “wonderful ideas on how to bring the department into the 21st century,” the chairwoman said.

The committee also endorsed incumbent State Assembly members Jonathan Jacobson of Newburgh and Kevin Cahill of Kingston and incumbent State Senators James Skoufis of Cornwall and Michelle Hinchey of Saugerties.

The committee also backed Jill Fieldstein of Dover to run in the Assembly district being vacated by Assemblyman Kieran Lalor of East Fishkill.

Also endorsed were incumbent House of Representatives Members Sean Patrick Maloney and Antonio Delgado as well as US Senator Charles Schumer.
