Police respond to another shooting on Lent Street

Police seen inspecting 47 Lent Street for bullet damage.

POUGHKEEPSIE – City police responded to yet another report of shots fired in the vicinity of Lent Street and Bement Avenue in Poughkeepsie on Monday night.  The latest incident occurred just before 7:30 p.m. on February 21, 2022.

 

City 911 received reports of shots fired in the vicinity of 51 Lent Street at approximately 7:20 p.m. and dispatched police to the area.  Officers and detectives canvassed the area and collected several shell casings near the troubled house at 51 Lent Street.  Detectives and uniformed officers were seen knocking on doors in the area seeking to speak with potential witnesses.

 

Initial reports indicate that at least one bullet went through a window of another house near the intersection of Lent Street and Bement Avenue.  No injuries were reported.  A witness told Mid-Hudson News that just prior to Monday’s gunfire, several men were seen in the neighborhood acting suspiciously.

 

The intersection has been the scene of several incidents of gunfire, historically directed at 51 Lent Street, including at least one that sent a teen resident to the hospital.
