MONTICELLO – Village Police in Monticello have arrested a Monticello man for burglarizing the Ted Stroebele Center for a second time.

Paul Ellis, 35, was arrested early Thursday, February 10, after he allegedly broke into the facility at 10 Jefferson Street.

While inside, he allegedly pulled a partition out of the floor inside a restroom, put a hole in a wall and scattered other items on the floor.

Police used video surveillance to identify Ellis, who was arrested four hours after the break-in, when they responded to a business on Forestburgh Road for a reported disorderly man.

Ellis had previously been arrested by Monticello Police on November 30, 2021for also burglarizing and damaging property at the Stroebele Center. As per state bail reform laws, he was issued an appearance ticket. The disposition of that case is pending in court.

He was arraigned on Thursday in the latest crime and remanded to the Sullivan County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail, $20,000 bond or $30,000 secured insurance bond pending further court action.
