Councilman Omari Shakur

NEWBURGH – City Councilman Omari Shakur of Newburgh is quarantined at home suffering from COVID-19.

The lawmaker said it began with the loss of taste and tiredness. “That day it hit me,” he told Mid-Hudson News.

Gradually he began to feel nauseous and cough up blood, he said.

Shakur, who sounds very weak from his ordeal with the virus, said he was staying home and resting.
