Somers resident guilty in wrong-way drink driving crash that killed two

WHITE PLAINS – A 52-year-old Somers man was found guilty following a four-week bench trial in Westchester County Court with causing the deaths of two people when he drove the wrong way on I-287 in Harrison while in a drunken state and struck their vehicle.

The driver, 57-year-old Jordan Wachtell and his 17-year-old son, Eric Goldberg, were killed in the crash at around 8:30 p.m. on January 30, 2020. Two teenage friends of the son were passengers.

Paucar was found guilty on February 7 of two counts of aggravated vehicular homicide, two counts of manslaughter, and assault, all felonies. He was acquitted of murder.

He faces a sentence of a minimum of from one and one-third to three years in prison to a maximum of eight and one-third to 25 years in prison.
