MIDDLETOWN – The Middletown & New Jersey Railroad, a short-haul system of 55 miles of tracks that connect to the long-haul freight network, will receive $1.8 million to make safety and service reliability enhancements, including the expansion of the Campbell Hall Yard and track rehabilitation.

The railroad, headquartered in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, was acquired in 2009 by Regional Rail LLC. Company officials could not be reached for comment.

A total of $76.4 million will fund 38 projects to renew and modernize the state’s freight rail infrastructure.
