KINGSTON – As the Mid-Hudson Valley got pelted with a severe winter storm that left a half inch of ice and sleet, as well as snow, tens of thousands of residents lost power, trees and power lines were downed and roads were unpassable.
Ulster County received the brunt of the storm’s impact leading Governor Hochul to deploy 24 members of the National Guard to assist with its recovery and cleanup operations, as well as to support 24/7 warming centers set up by the county.
Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services Commissioner Jackie Bray said the state “will continue to coordinate the state’s response on ground in Ulster County and across the region to help communities respond during this ongoing event.”
Four 24/7 warming centers were established until further notice:
- Andy Murphy Center, 467 Broadway, Kingston
- 2nda Inglesia La Mision Church, 80 Elmendorf Street, Kingston
- SUNY New Paltz, Elting Gym, 1 Hawk Drive, New Paltz
- Frank D. Greco Memorial Senior Citizen Recreation Center, 207 Market Street, Saugerties
