Dover Plains man charged with arson

DOVER PLAINS – A 48-year-old man has been arrested by the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office on a charge of arson in connection with the investigation of a structure fire in the Town of Dover.

At about 8:50 p.m. on January 13, the J.H. Ketcham Hose Company responded to a reported structure fire on Brady Lane in Dover. A second alarm brought mutual aid response from Amenia, Wassaic, Union Vale, and Sharon, CT.

Following an investigation by local and state officials, Charles Keenan of Dover Plains was arrested and charged with felony arson, He was arraigned and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail without bail pending a future court appearance.

“The alleged actions of this defendant not only endangered the lives of the residents in the apartment building but also the lives of the firefighters who responded and extinguished the fire,” said Sheriff Kirk Imperati. “We will not tolerate lives or property to be threatened by the crime of arson and we will continue to work diligently with the fire departments, the Dutchess County Department of Emergency Response.”
