Suspect arrested after Galleria stabbing

TOWN OF POUGHKEEPSIE – A Monday afternoon altercation in the Poughkeepsie Galleria sent two people to the hospital with stab wounds.  A 35-year-old suspect was arrested at the scene.

The altercation happened around 3:30 p.m. on January 17 and was reported immediately by Mid-Hudson News and that story can be found HERE.

Town of Poughkeepsie Police responded to the reported fight on Monday afternoon and located a 36-year-old victim who was reported to have been stabbed in the head, face, and leg.  He was transported to MidHudson Regional Hospital for serious but non-life-threatening wounds.

Police arrested 35-year-old Poughkeepsie resident Ernesto Campos at the scene.  He was transported to police headquarters where he was charged with felony assault and the misdemeanors of endangering the welfare of a child, menacing, and criminal possession of a weapon.  He was held for arraignment.

Police at the scene also requested a second ambulance to treat a person described as a “second victim”.  The 29-year-old man sustained a laceration to the hand and was transported to MHRR for further treatment.
