TOWN OF POUGHKEEPSIE – A Town of Hyde Park man, Christion Young, 27, was arrested at a Town of Poughkeepsie grocery store after he allegedly stabbed a female in the abdomen, resulting in a non-life-threatening wound. Town of Poughkeepsie Police detectives are still investigating the incident.
Police say that despite the initial radio transmissions, the stabbing did not take place inside of the store.
According to a statement from the police, officers responded to the January 8 stabbing at approximately 6:42 p.m. Officers responded to the ShopRite grocery store on Winslow Gate Road and found both the victim and suspect inside the store.
The woman was transported to a local hospital and Young was arrested at the scene. He was charged with felony assault and criminal possession of a weapon, a misdemeanor.
Police say that the suspect and victim were known to each other.
