KINGSTON – Ulster County Legislator Tracey Bartels, who previously served as chairwoman, will take over that role again when lawmakers hold their reorganizational session on the 10th of January.

The previous chairman, fellow Democrat David Donaldson, was not re-elected last year and the majority caucus has informally chosen Bartels.

Among the first things she wants to do is restructure some of the standing committees to make each have more conforming categories of responsibilities.

Going into the new year, lawmakers also want to tackle affordable housing, homelessness, and economic development, among other pressing issues.
