NEW PALTZ – New York will open a state run COVID-19 community testing site on the campus of SUNY New Paltz starting next week.

The site will complement the over 50,000 free at-home rapid kits the county has already distributed.

County Executive Pat Ryan requested the site based on the surge from the Omicron variant.

Last week, Ryan signed a 30-day extension of the state of emergency order he originally enacted on November 28, based on the number of cases more than doubling because of the variant.
